The Mexican food wave is hitting Colombo and you can finally find a good spot for some authentic tacos. Lets Taco Colombo just had its grand opening last week and we were excited to finally get some good Mexican cuisine into our system. 

We stopped by to see what’s on offer and here’s what we thought.

FOOD

They have a pretty big menu with starters, mains, tacos, pizza and dessert. 
We began with their Quesadillas as starters.  We tried their Beef and Vegetable Quesadillas. On the menu they offer Beef and Chicken Quesadillas at Rs. 875 and the portion is made to be shared by two. The Quesadillas were packed heavily with meat and held together by a layer of cheese and we are always a big fan of generous portions! They also have Enchiladas and Chimichangas for starters. 

 

For mains, we tried their Big Dip Nachos at Rs. 1300 and this was one of our favourite dishes! The Nachos were crispy and had a crunch to it that we loved. And the dips (we got the beef chili and guacamole) were full of flavour.  Overall, it’s a great meal!

 

We then worked our way to the highlight of the menu; Tacos. They have 7 distinct fillings to choose from. We tried their Black Bean with Salsa Sauce Taco at Rs. 950, their Siracha Black Pepper Beef Taco at Rs. 1300 and their Spicy Chicken Taco at Rs. 1150. Depending on what you choose, you will either get a hard shell (deep fried) or a soft shell (pan fried). Personally I was a fan of the hard shell than the soft because it kept my filling from escaping the shell and I do love a good crunch to my food! Their tacos are also generously filled and each dish has two tacos with a red salad, nachos and two dips. We really loved their vegetarian taco because the filling had quite a bit of flavour to it. They also offer beer battered fish and chili shrimp tacos!

 

 

You simply cannot leave Lets Taco without trying their desserts! Their Churro cup at Rs.525 is an absolute treat.  Soft with the right hint of cinnamon and a dash of chocolate sauce, these churros served with vanilla ice cream is the perfect way to wrap up your meal. 

 

AMBIENCE 
Located in a little corner on Dickman’s Road, this restaurant is small and colourfully designed.  They’ve truly created a fun atmosphere with their Mexican themed wall paintings, food cart and décor. 

OVERALL
Overall Let’s Taco Colombo is definitely the taco-f the town! With great food that’s value for money and a fun ambience here’s a restaurant to fulfill your Mexican cravings!
