Ginza is one of the oldest Japanese restaurants to start operations in Colombo. When they started up in 1987 they were at the Hilton Colombo. Now located at the picturesque Waters Edge, this restaurant serves authentic Japanese cuisine with a variety of Teppanyaki, Sushi, Sashimi, Yakitori and many more delicious preparations. We visited this restaurant for dinner recently to check out what they have to offer.

It is with great difficulty that I cut rice out of my daily diet. I love rice and curry, so this lifestyle change is a great challenge. However I have taken the initiative to curb my rice intake due to health factors rather than reasons like weight loss. Life Online dropped by Park Street Mews to check out the recently opened restaurant Kuuraku Colombo, which serves authentic Japanese cuisine. Kuuraku is a Japanese franchise operating 33 restaurants globally. Their restaurants are located in Ginza a prestigious area of Tokyo, Montreal, Toronto, Jakarta, and in a couple of cities in India and also China. This is the first one in Sri Lanka.

Urban Green is a small and beautiful restaurant situated down Unity Place in Colpetty. They are very much quality oriented and try their best to keep the food as healthy as possible. But they also have a lot of options for those who like to go all out and enjoy some good food! All the furniture is made out of recycled wood and the kitchen is a recycled container. The place is inviting and a nice hang out spot.

Both of them are marine engineers by profession but their goal is to bring Sri Lanka to its former glory in producing and exporting coffee to the world.

Thai cuisine is becoming hugely popular in Sri Lanka. In the long lists of restaurants Rice Box is definitely one of the high contenders. The food is delicious and affordable. Yumi is the Japanese restaurant at Taj Samudra. It’s actually a bar and restaurant rolled up into one. Every time I have gone there they have had something new on their menu. They change their menu frequently and add interesting new items. So a few days ago we dropped by to check out what was new and we were not disappointed with the fare.
Sea Food Club is the newly opened seafood restaurant at Grandeeza hotel in Negombo. The restaurant overlooks the lagoon and the hotel’s pool giving it a good view. It’s easy to locate and is one of the few places in Negombo that you can go to enjoy a good meal overlooking the lagoon.
