Two years with WTF

This week on WTF, we look back at the two years we have spent providing you with a pinch of entertainment, mixed with news of happenings around the city, online and through our weekly column.

Looking back, a few shoots do stay in mind! Our very first show was at the Good Market, where we featured Jeeva's Natural Foods. Their polos cutlet is still my favourite!

While there are a few shows that really stick, there are some shows where I look back and wonder why I ever did that!

The most controversial WTF has been the one where I dressed up as a Tamil bride, which even made the closest friends in my life to question my friendship with them. Many wrote to me advising me to never do things like that, and certain people even called me a Tamil cow. But the show did reach good heights, racking up 540,000 views and still counting!

Another show that I enjoyed was the ‘Novelty Items in Pettah’. The You’re My Favorite team and I did not have any idea what to do when we got into the car for this shoot. On a whim, we decided to go to Pettah, and that video was ultimately so much fun to do. It was a happy accident that we really enjoyed!

The 52nd video was ‘Looking like Adam vs Looking like Danu’. How do I compete with a good looking man like that? With my mouth, that’s how! That one single line ‘Adam, let me know when you want to look like me’ has been quoted many many times.

Sometimes, WTF has had international sensations like renowned violinist Dr. Draw. We decided to take him to Pettah and entertain the commuters and the shopkeepers. It was an afternoon well spent!

How do you know you have become popular in Wellwatte? When Sumanadisi Bakers decides to frame you for keeps for your malu paan review. And that’s when you know that WTF has reaches the masses.

WTF has supported gender equality; WTF has hugged the poorest of the poor and dined with the richest of the rich. It has the tasted the sweetest of desserts and visited the most yuckiest of markets, in total WTF is your voice. Let’s keep another 2 years going, write to me with your favourite places to visit!

You’re My Favorite and I say a big thank you to all of you for keeping things going!
