Photocause and Friends was held amidst a distinguished gathering at the National Art Gallery on the 31st of October 2015. 
 
The event commenced with Chief Guest Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith and Guests of Honour welcomed by Shanaya and Nayantara, the young siblings from St. Bridget’s Convent - the forces behind Photocause.
 
 
 
 
The awards ceremony was also held at the event. The winners of the photography awards were Senuri seneviratne of Bishop’s College who won the Gold medal in the colour category and Manasa Perera of Nalanda College who won the Gold in the monochrome category. The overall champion was Senuri Seneviratne of Bishop’s College.
 
 
 
Speaking at the event, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith stated that he was delighted to see young students take the initiative to use their talents and support an important cause, through the Sri Lanka Cancer Society. Whilst lauding the youngsters commendable work, he went on to add that we should all  get together - irrespective of our age - in creating a better tomorrow for our society.
 
In their welcome speech, Shanaya and Nayantara, thanked the Archbishop of Colombo, Rev. Sr. Alexandra and Mr. Susantha Rathnayake, Chairman John Keells for the confidence and support extended to them since the inception of Photocause in 2011. Also, receiving special mention were Visakha Vidyalaya Bandarawela, St. Anthony's Convent Kandy and Maliyadeva Kurunegala for their active participation, as well as all the participating schools that made the event a success.
 
Fresh off the success of “Photocause and Friends 2015”, the youngsters look forward to a larger scale event in 2016, and also hope to set up a Cancer Society at their alma mater St. Bridget’s Convent, and aspire to create more awareness..
