What started out in a small garage at Moratuwa is now a thriving business in Colombo! In 2007, owners Anojani Silva and Prashan Fernando began Elly Creations as a small shop in Moratuwa, importing and selling costume jewellery. But as customers requested more unique pieces, Anojani tried her hand in designing and making her own costume jewellery to cater to the needs of her clients.

With her designs gaining attention, they shifted to Colombo and opened their store in 2008. 8 years later, the business is flourishing and Anojani’s designs have gained quite the reputation.

The Handmade Collection Designed by Anojani

The Collection - is a handmade necklace collection of various designs. Each piece of this collection is designed and handmade by Anojani and her team. The necklaces are all costume jewellery and glass stones are used to add colour. The collection is all about affordability and providing custom made personalised jewellery.

The Design - From Kandyan bridal jewellery to high neck pieces, the collection is a foray of colour and extravagance. From maroon to magenta the necklaces have the most decorative designs and colour. To complement the colours, the necklaces are all made with a dull gold (also because many people prefer the dull gold than a sparkling yellow gold nowadays). Each necklace will take around a day or two to create and will go through several stages such as threadwork, soldering, combining beads and stones and casting pieces.

Where to Wear It - The collection is ideally made for bridal wear but not limited to it. Some can be worn for special functions and parties. Most of the necklaces match with absolutely anything and if you find something but not in the colour you want – Elly Creations will customize it for you!

Why It's Special - Because Anojani’s designs are unique and out of the box the greatest feature of this collection is that it’s not subtle. The necklaces are bold and eye catching and utterly extravagant. The designs are original and the high neck pieces would work perfectly with a mono-coloured saree or dress.

My Pick - When I saw the collection as a whole what really caught my eye is this Kandyan Bridal necklace. It’s a modern Kandyan set which doesn’t include the ‘Hansa Poottuwa’. It includes the 7 original chains as well as some additional chains to add a theatrical touch to the necklace. The design is embedded in glass stones and has an antique gold base.
