Jehan Aloysius and CentreStage Productions will kick-start the Christmas season with 'CentreStage Musicals'- a spectacular celebration of original musical theatre for the entire family.

CentreStage Productions, which has earned international acclaim for high-quality original productions, plans to stage a one-night-only performance on Thursday, 19th November at the Lionel Wendt Theatre.

The show brings together the original casts of hit shows such as 'Rag - The Musical', 'Venus United', and the recent sell-out success, 'A Christmas Carol', to perform staged scenes from the shows. The evening will also include an exclusive preview of Jehan’s newest mega-musical in the works - 'Treasure Island'.

'CentreStage Musicals' features an impressive lineup of soloists, including Sean Amarasekara, Shehara Liyanage, Ayushka Nugaliyadda, Dion Nanayakkara, Rachel Hettiarachchi, Joanne Rajiyah, Movin Perera, and Jehan Aloysius himself.

Rather than just presenting a collection of songs, this show will present dramatic scenes and streamlined versions of the musicals, performed by the top names of musical theatre. The evening provides a variety of stories, musical styles and themes, with beautiful costumes and settings - from the intimate three-hander, 'Venus United', to the adventure and thrills of 'Treasure Island' and the magical Christmas classic, 'A Christmas Carol'. This is certainly an unmissable evening for theatre lovers.

Founded by Aloysius, CentreStage Productions celebrates 25 years as a trailblazing non-profit theatre troupe in Sri Lanka. Over the past quarter-century, the company has focused on original local writing, physical theatre, and youth mentorship, while using performance art as a platform for social change and representing Sri Lankan theatre on international stages since 2001.

The troupe has been selected for multiple international theatre festivals, and their scripts have been shortlisted and long-listed for the Gratiaen Prize and studied in universities. CentreStage Productions and Jehan have also created groundbreaking mixable productions with the disabled, which have gained international recognition. Over the decades, the amateur drama group's various volunteer humanitarian projects, such as the StageHands Project, The Power of One Project, and The Spotlight Youth Mentorship Program are all been funded by the proceeds from their shows.

Jehan Aloysius is a multi-talented director, playwright, composer, and actor who has significantly shaped Sri Lankan English theatre. Over his career, he has written, composed, and directed iconic original works like 'Rag', 'Bengal Bungalow', 'Pyramus & Thisby', 'Venus United', and 'A Christmas Carol', while dedicating decades to offering free drama workshops and masterclasses for emerging performers across the country.
