Award-winning filmmaker Enokaa Sathyangani recently completed a significant music video which will go down in records as Sri Lanka’s first music video ‘Sindu Pathule Kimida Sengawee’ which has been shot 100% under water.

“This song is included in the film 'Cinderella' which will be released soon. It was shot exactly a year ago as a scene in this movie. It is a dream sequence. I chose Akalanka Ganegama and Upeksha Swarnamali for the main roles in the film because of their outlook.

There is a lot of romance in the story. The whole story is built up on a romantic involvement within a brief period, filled with large doses of suspense,” she said.

“In most main stream movies, love and romance are portrayed in a manner that does not appear real. In our country we have had films that were closer to reality like, Ganga Addara, Golu Hadawatha or Gehenu Lamai. They aroused our sensitiveness. I wondered why we cannot transform the real romantic feel that is experienced in life.  Love is a common language that is felt by all living beings. It is timeless and ageless, so films or artistic creations based on romance will be made for generations to come.”

“This film touches upon young love. Our movies lack that magic for whatever reason, and fail to take us to that magical world. I wanted to change this concept. I wrote the script with this in mind. I wanted it to be a highly romantic song. I penned the lyrics and the song was sung by Thewashli de Silva and Nadeeka Guruge who also set it to tune.”

“Some TV channels are playing the music video now and it has become a hit on You Tube too. We shot it in Negombo in less than six hours. Chandwna Jayasinghe handled the camera and the whole team gave their 100% to it,” she said.
