What is Reiki?

Reiki is a technique of healing which is used to balance the body, mind and soul. The actual meaning of Reiki is derived from splitting the word into the two words “Rei” and “ki”. “Rei” means the universal, cosmic life force and “ki” means the flowing life force that binds everything. It originated in Tibet and was recently discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early nineteenth century and that knowledge about energy have been passed down ever since. Using Reiki energy, it is possible to improve health and enhance quality of life.

Where does it originate from?

Reiki was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the 19th century after years of search and toil.

What kind of healing does Reiki provide?

There are many benefits of Reiki. However, there are some areas in which Reiki has been very effective. It helps to reduce stress, relieves pain, helps improve physical, mental and spiritual growth and helps to remove energy blocks. Reiki can be used with any sort of medication. It also works on animals, plants and even situations (places, events etc.)

It is believed that Reiki energy works only for the Highest Good of each person and cannot cause harm. It is safe for anyone and for any situations including pregnant women and children. It can be used on any individual who is open to this energy. It heals asthma, acne, various allergies, migraine, stomachaches, menstrual pains, diabetes, chronic fatigue, bronchitis in addition to stress.

Are there different types of Reiki? If so, can you list down the types and descriptions?

There are about 25 different types of reiki, which are off shoots from the original reiki imparted by Dr.Usui. Some of them are Karuna Reiki, TIbetan Reiki, Angels Reiki, Kundalini Reiki, Gendai Reiki, Reibow Reiki, Imara Reiki and Shamballa Reiki.  However, we at Holistic Wellness Home offer only original Usui Reiki called Usui Shiki Ryoho  which refers to the system of Reiki that has come to us via the lineage: Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata.

What are the programmes you conduct?

We offer Reiki Degree/Level I (which has four attunements and professional training), Reiki Degree/Level II (which has one attunement and professional training) and Reiki Master Training. These programs run for 2 days.

Other than professional certification training, we offer individual treatments for various mental, physical, emotional and spiritual requirements. Sessions are done by a Reiki master in the healing room. Sessions last for an hour. Before that, the client undergoes a consultation session with the master where the problem, sickness or concern is discussed in detail.

Our Reiki masters are qualified NLP - Neuro Linguistic Programming and they are life coaches as well. Therefore, this consultation helps the client receive full guidance and support from us to overcome the concern. These healing sessions are amazingly relaxing and most clients fall in to a deep relaxing sleep. The music played, aroma, and the calm, serene and comfortable atmosphere add to the whole experience.

In these sessions, client’s privacy and confidentiality of information shared is well respected. Treatments are done with the clothes on since energy can travel through any medium. A Reiki practitioner uses hands to channel energy.

We also have Auric Clearance, Karmic Imprint Clearance, and DNA Activations coming under Advance Energy Work. Those who have gone through some energy work with us can choose to receive the benefits of  Advance Energy Clearances and Activations.

Do you handle the Holistic Wellness Home by yourself?

I am one of the two Reiki Masters and Gamaka Perera is the other Reiki Master. I’m the Principal REIKI Master and we are full time Reiki practitioners. However, there are more than 10 part time Reiki practitioners, who are my students.
