Crysis 3 is the final instalment of the Crysis trilogy and before fans start sighing in disappointment, keep in mind that the game's creators have refused to rule out making more Crysis games (so you can expect the standard prequels or even a new trilogy if they get lazy).

After playing Crysis 2 and asking some of my buddies, who happen to be hard-core fans, for their opinions, the response was generally muted. That was probably because the whole storyline seemed jaded when compared to the first couple of games (something like what happened to the Assassin's Creed series).

Anyway, Crysis 3 hopes to provide a more refreshing plot line with a new environment and the return of one of the key characters: Prophet. The game will be set in 2047, in a world where a huge dome seals-off New York from the rest of the world to contain the alien Ceph. As a result, the city overrun with what seems to be a tropical jungle.

The game basically features Prophet who is on a quest to stop the Ceph and CELL agents, who are on a quest for world domination. Accordingly, he is a man described to be on a mission to avenge all that he has lost due to his blind loyalty (in the previous games). Something like the Punisher, out to take vengeance on everything in his way.

Either way, he also comes armed with a variety of new weapons to help get the job done. These include a futuristic bow with and range of different arrow warheads. Combine that with the stealth feature and you look like a predator hunting down enemies (that particular screenshot has already become a favourite FB cover pic for Crysis enthusiasts). Other weapons include high tech machine guns and alien technology, available from fallen Ceph units.

The game is more challenging due to a number of new enemy Ceph units armed with a variety of weapons that could do serious damage and even strip you of your stealth features. In addition, the game also introduces a hacking mini-game to provide gamers with a new strategic element.

The game's creators have tried to emphasise that much of the game focuses on the character and not just the sci-fi technology. Hopefully, the combination will allow players to experience the best Crysis game yet.
