I could not think of a better venue to dawn the New Year other than the Sky Lounge at the Kingsbury Hotel. The location of the Kingsbury is definitely the best in Colombo and creating the Sky Lounge has certainly added value to the hotel.

The management had looked into everything possible to make sure that the guests were looked after with great care that night. The spread for dinner was a great choice, ending with a fabulous breakfast in the early hours of the morning.

The choice of beverages was excellent and what a free flow of it. At midnight looking out of the lounge was certainly a sight to behold; the fireworks, the traffic and the merriment on Galle Face green was enchanting.

I would like to compliment the management, the Chef in Charge and the service team who looked after the guests so well that there was nothing to complain or fuss about that night. Congratulations to the Kingsbury and its team for an excellent job done and certainly this would always be a preferred venue to dawn the year.

 

The New Year

I am sure that as the new year dawns many of us would make resolutions that are rarely kept. Everyone decides to do something new but as the days slip by most forget their resolutions.

But it is so interesting that at any age people yet ask what one’s new year resolutions are. 

One wonders how to respond to this question. Now that I am over half a century does one really have to change?  No, I guess and happily reply that I shall be more candid than ever and that I am not particularly looking to be Mr. Popular. 

People try to maintain a straight face when they hear my reply and I can already hear what they all have to say once am out of sight.  However, I am a firm believer in not living and leading my life to create an impression and please others and being myself is definitely the best option for me.

One may as well decide on such a resolution, especially in Colombo with all the sharks and gossip mongers amongst us.  

Here we are in 2014 and I am sure this year will fly past like the previous one and very soon it will be Christmas and another year. Let’s hope this will be a great year for all of us, with lots of peace on earth.
