It’s unfair to declare that diamonds are a girl’s only best friend. A girl has other best friends too. They include shoes, alluring undergarments, (since of late) a glamorous matte red lipstick and chocolate of course.
Chocolate in any form is divine to the taste buds. While it gives you this instant burst of energy, it also provides you with a sense of comfort. This recipe was urgently borrowed from www.about.com. It’s clearly very simple to conjure up and tastes delicious.
But if you’re having one of ‘those’ days when everything has gone wrong and your trying not to scream the roof down, try this pudding and try it warm. It will calm your senses and grant you a peace of mind.
Ingredients
150g of Cooking Chocolate (Dark) | 3 Cups of Milk |
¼ Cup of Corn Flour | ¼- ½ Cup of Sugar |
1 Tsp of Vanilla Essence | ¼ Tsp of Salt |
Directions
In a medium size bowl combine the corn flour, salt, sugar and set aside.
Boil milk in a heavy based sauce pan for a few minutes on a low flame.
Take ½ cup of that boiled milk; add it to the corn flour mixture and mix.
Add the cooking chocolate to the boiling milk and stir constantly.
Once the chocolate has melted completely, add the milk-corn flour mixture in to the saucepan and stir.
Increase the heat slightly and stir in the vanilla essence.
Keep stirring until the mixture starts to thicken.
Once the pudding has formed in to a thick paste, take it off the heat and let it cool down for about ten minutes.
Then pour it in to the cups and refrigerate for a maximum of three hours.
Disasters, Warnings and Tips
I had this warm. I died and went to heaven. I am currently submitting this article from there.
If you're impatient (like I am) or find the pudding bits sticking at the base of the pan, take it off the flame and whisk for a few minutes.
Add a few pieces of milk chocolate as well. It reduces the harshness of the dark cooking chocolate.
The recipe instructed ½ cup of sugar, however because the cooking chocolate I use has sugar in it already I reduced the quantity of the prescribed amount.
Serve this with a dollop of whip cream.
Do be careful of hot pudding mixture splashing and scalding you while whisking.
The scent of vanilla intoxicates my senses, so I added ½ tsp extra to the pudding.
Packet chocolate pudding recipes are terrible compared to this.
