Indian hospitality brand, Yazu, marked its first international expansion of the brand with the launch of Yazu at the Beach at Radisson Blu Resort in Galle last week.

Yazu is a premier Pan-Asian dining brand known as the “House of Artisanal Pan-Asian Food” for its Pan-Asian Supper Club concept.  Yazu operates in six high-end locations across Mumbai, Goa, Bombay and Indore and most recently, opened its first international outlet in Galle, which is the brand’s second beachfront property, following its first in Goa.

Yazu at the Beach sits along a stunning beachfront location at the Radisson Blu Resort, opening directly to the sand and the ocean. The space is divided into three distinct seating areas with an indoor section, a covered patio and an outdoor area with endless sea views. The architecture leans on natural elements, structured by dark wood, with handmade lighting fixtures and warm, ambient lighting that creates a setting that’s relaxed yet refined. Although no two Yazu properties are the same, the dark interiors, warm lighting, and handcrafted fixtures that define the Yazu signature design ethos are all present here.

Commenting on the launch, the CEO of Yazu Hospitality Pvt. Ltd, Ranbir Singh Nagpal said: “Taking Yazu beyond India for the first time is a defining step for our brand. We wanted our international debut to happen in a destination that already carries its own identity and energy, and Galle offered exactly that. For us, this opening is about more than a new location. It is about planting the Yazu brand in a market that understands experience, atmosphere and hospitality at a high level.”

The menu at Yazu at the Beach is mostly aligned with its Indian counterpart, with some items tailored to the local palate using local ingredients of quality and popularity. Rooted in Pan-Asian cuisine, the food offerings span a wide spectrum, from sushi and dim sum to robata-style grilling and slow-simmered broths. Standouts from the menu include their Japanese carpaccio, ceviche, truffle edamame dumplings, sushi and poke bowls, and robata grills such as miso black cod and Australian lamb chops. Dishes like kimchi jjigae and hibachi fried rice round out the menu with over 50 items that cover the breadth and best of Pan-Asian flavours. Desserts are more indulgent, with a divine Salted Caramel Tart that we loved and the well-known Matilda cake.

Not to be outdone by the food, the Bar and cocktail menu is also a highlight. There’s something about a sunset cocktail by the beach, and Yazu delivers on the experience. With an ethos centering on clarity, balance and modern techniques, Yazu at the Beach offers a variety of signature cocktails and mocktails. At the launch, highlights included a clarified Tom Yum cocktail, the Tom Klaqe, a watermelon-based house wine cocktail called the Lean and Mean and a blue pea tea concoction named The Democrat. For mocktails, the fruity and tangy Pomegranate juice is called the Mock Penzi and the spicy orange and pineapple drink with a zesty kick of tabasco, mint and citrus is dubbed the Heat Check.

Overall, with its beachfront setting, expansive menu and an exciting drinks program, Yazu at the Beach seeks to create an experience that is as much about the ambience as it is about the food, an extension of the essence of the Yazu brand. Yazu is now open for lunch and dinner as well as sundowners.
