In celebration of Zonta Yellow Rose Month, the Zonta Club II of Colombo will present “The Green Runway” a special showcase of environmentally friendly designer wear and sustainable artistry from Sri Lanka. The event will take place on 29 March 2026, from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo.

March holds special significance for Zonta worldwide. While International Women's Day is celebrated on 8 March, the entire month is dedicated to honouring the spirit and achievements of women through Zonta Yellow Rose Month. The yellow rose, Zonta’s enduring symbol of friendship, invites reflection on the remarkable women and girls whose generosity, resilience and leadership bring Zonta’s mission to life each day.

The Green Runway will feature a signature presentation of creativity curated by Nayana Karunarathne, Past President of the club, with choreography by Sylvana. The program will highlight collections from some of Sri Lanka’s most distinctive designers and sustainable fashion labels.

Featured Collections
Heritage Hands: A label that celebrates Sri Lanka’s indigenous textile crafts through modern design palettes. By combining tradition with contemporary aesthetics, Heritage Hands bridges the gap between heritage craftsmanship and modern fashion.

Ohe Island – “Crimson, Charcoal and Snow”: This striking collection explores contrasts—fire and shadow, earth and light. Crafted in pure raw silk, the sarees become sculptural canvases where batik, appliqué and patchwork unite to tell a story of heritage and contemporary artistic expression.

LiL: An eco-conscious fashion brand inspired by the beauty of nature. Its collections are created using natural dyes and eco-printing techniques, transforming plant pigments into distinctive fabrics that celebrate sustainability and organic design.

Dona Couture SL: Celebrating natural beauty with exquisite detailing and impeccable finishing, Dona Couture presents handcrafted luxury designs that blend traditional hand embroidery with modern aesthetics. Each garment is a unique work of art.

A Resurge by Mohamed Ziad & Fathima Ayath: Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi, this collection embraces imperfection as beauty. The garments reflect themes of resilience, healing and personal transformation. Through thread-drawn embroidery and techniques resembling cracks stitched together, the designs symbolize repair, renewal and the strength that emerges from rebuilding.

Supporting Women and Communities
Funds raised through The Green Runway will support programs assisting entrepreneurial women whose livelihoods were affected by Cyclone DITWAH, while strengthening the club’s ongoing service and advocacy initiatives. These initiatives include:

  • Menstrual Care programs
  • Cancer Comfort Cushion projects
  • Safe Drinking Water initiatives
  • Counselling and youth development programs
  • Awareness campaigns addressing Violence Against Women and Emotional Abuse

Donors, beneficiaries and awardees form the living legacy of Zonta’s impact. Their stories reflect trust in Zonta’s vision and the power of collective generosity.
