Meet Godric

Meet Godric all the way from Aussie!

Godric here is a naughty pup and has a habit of doing the most adorable things that would make any animal lover go gaga over him. He loves attention and no phone hogging when he's around. Strictly one of those old souls that believe phones are antisocial behaviour, I suppose! Godric is still a puppy adored by friends and spoilt by family. But he's worth all the fuss!

Pet's Details

Name : Godric Pandithage
Breed : Golden Retriever
Age : 1
Owner : Gameena Pandithage

What's the story behind the name you've given?

It’s from Harry Potter, for those who haven’t read Harry Potter or know very little, it’s the name of one of the headmasters at Hogwarts, Godric Gryffindor which was one of the four houses (best one) that was named after him(Gryffindor). He was said to be the ‘bravest of them all’ and has the symbol of a lion, and as golden retrievers kind of look like lions we thought why not. Plus it starts with G!

What are meal times and bath times like?

He usually wakes us up in the morning so he would get fed. He is a picky eater, sometimes he would just not eat even if we try and mix up and change his food. He hates water so it's quite hard to convince him to have a bath! But with the greatest struggle bath times come around every 3 weeks or so!

Does he do anything out of the ordinary which fascinates you?

He has this thing where he brings something (a toy, carpet, TV remote whatever he can find) when someone walks in the door as a greeting and it’s the cutest thing ever! And when he hasn’t seen one of us in awhile he makes a weird noise that sounds like a horse and it's just so adorable. Also, if we are sitting on the floor he will come and sit on our laps! Too cute!! He also hates it when you’re on the phone around him, he would just sit next you and basically hit you until you get off it and pay attention to him.

What is his most favourite fun time activity?

Definitely going on long walks, to the dog park or just backyard fetching. We also love chasing each other around the house.

What is the naughtiest thing he has done?

Oh gosh, too many to write here as he is biting my hairbrush as I type. As he's still a puppy he gets up to all sorts of mischief! From eating the legs of the dining chair till the chair broke down and now we have to buy a whole new dining set. So that’s probably the most disastrous thing! Also sometimes which is more often than never, when we get home after work we would find random objects or paper shredded around the house.

How did you find him?

As I’m strictly against buying from pet stores, I looked in to adoption and couldn’t find any at the time I really wanted a dog. I’ve wanted one for years and have kept tabs on prospective breeders. One day just looking through them there was a litter due around Christmas time in 2014 ready to go to homes in February 2015, which was perfect when I returned back from holiday, he happened to be one of six. My sister actually chose him out of the lot because he looked different from the others, lazy and 'slept funny’ so we pretty much picked the weird one out of the lot!

How does he react when you return home?

Coming home to him after work is the best feeling ever! As I mentioned before, as we enter the house he will run around the place and find something he could get hold of to present us with it! Uncontrollably wags his tail and jumps on us! His reaction makes it all worth while!

What's the best thing about him?

Everything! He is so naughty but he is perfect, he loves us too much as we love him. Coming home to him after work everyday is the best thing I could ask for!

What was the most unforgettable moment that you shared with him?

He’s done so many things its hard to pick just one. But I would say every moment with him is unforgettable, he is honestly the best thing that’s happened to me and my family.
