Hosted at the gourmet station, a destination that's renowned among foodies all over the island, the much acclaimed Gourmet High Tea Buffet has been reintroduced by the Kingsbury Hotel. Featuring new trends of gastronomy and rare culinary traditions, the high tea at the Kingsbury offers a variety of mouthwatering pastries, sandwiches and cakes.

The Gourmet Station offers a calm and soothing ambience that is ideal for enjoying an evening tea. The pianist in the background does a fabulous job of adding to the tranquil setting which allows you to sit back, relax and enjoy a wide spread of delicacies of uncompromising quality.

The Food

Spread into three separate sections of savouries, sandwiches and sweets the presentation was extremely appetising and made me eager to want to find out how it would taste.
There wasn't too much in terms of variety and also the size of the buffet itself seemed to have reduced as opposed to how it used to be. But nonetheless the food was definitely delicious.
"Curried vegetable Puff" "Roasted Eggplant and Mozzarella Calzone" "Crispy Sesame Chicken" and also chicken and Margarita pizza were some items off the savoury section.

I particularly loved the calzone which had quite a thin and non greasy crust and a delightful filling.

The chicken pizza was also quite delectable. There was also a number of sauce selections to complement the savoury items. The tomato sauce was a mouthwatering complement for the pizza and the calzone while there was also a sweet and sour chilli sauce that went extremely well with the spiced thai crab cake. The crab cake itself was a mouthwatering delight but the sauce was quite the addition. All in all it can be guaranteed that you will not be disappointed with the savoury items.

Favourites off the sandwiches section included Savoury croissant and tuna sandwiches, Honey Roast, Chicken mustard and Avocado spinach sandwiches, egg sandwiches, open face sandwiches and regular chicken sandwiches as well. It was quite a stuffing of bread and fillings but I enjoyed every last bite of it. The sandwiches were all quite small in size and easy to eat and the filling inside was ample to emphasise the intended flavour.

The highlight of the High Tea for me however was definitely the sweets section. Just looking at their selection of cakes, doughnuts and waffles was enough to satisfy my taste buds.

The regular chocolate cake, Red velvet, chocolate swiss roll and also the chocolate sauce swiss roll not just looked but also tasted absolutely divine. Each bite was an explosion of creamy flavour and each one of the cakes had a lovely consistency and texture and was not soggy or too hard in any way. There was also doughnuts and strawberry and meringue tarts. I didn’t particularly like the doughnuts much but the tarts were quite nice. They also had a pancake and waffle station that allowed you to choose your preferred topping of strawberry, chocolate or maple syrup and whipped cream.

Beverages

Not willing to compromise on the most important  component of the high tea which is actually the Tea itself, the gourmet station had laid out an impressive selection of high quality tea and coffee. For those that do not prefer to have a hot beverage they had provided Iced coffee, Apple iced tea and also Pink grapefruit milkshake. The milkshake was the ideal pick for me and I found it very refreshing and a good complement to the food.

Priced at just Rs. 1900/- The Kingsbury is a wonderful place to indulge in the enticing flavours of cakes and pastries, while sipping a nice cup of tea. They also hope to increase the size and items included in the menu and gradually expand to its former glory. However It is certainly worth the price and I highly recommend
