Someone had to say it

What a week! From Sri Lanka’s scandal-prone elite suddenly discovering the legal system does, in fact, apply to them… To Donald Trump dropping bombs while his old tweets do the same… To people online, choosing hate over clarity, and calling it conviction. If you felt like your brain needed a helmet just to scroll this week, you’re not alone. Let’s break it down.

From Poison to Penthouses: What Even Is Accountability Here?

First, it was fake meds. Then we found out they weren’t just fake, they were deadly. A cancer drug that was basically saline. An antibody treatment that was literal bacteria water. Let that sink in. People were being injected with this garbage in public hospitals. Real lives. Real damage.

Now? The scandal’s grown tentacles. What started as one ex-minister has turned into a full-blown family affair with the wife, daughters, and even a son-in-law arrested. Allegedly laundering over Rs. 134 million through apartments, life insurance plans, and a shiny Benz. Because clearly, after poisoning a public health system, the next step is real estate investment.

And before you ask, no, they didn’t mysteriously faint in court. No surprise hospital admissions. No sudden neck braces. Just actual court time and handcuffs. Finally.

Last Word: They sold out our lives for luxury. Let’s make sure they don’t buy their way out of justice.

Talk Peace, Drop Bombs, Repeat

Donald Trump’s tweets are like expired milk; foul, but somehow always resurface. This week, one of his old gems from 2013 came back to bite. In it, he accused then-President Obama of planning to attack Iran “because of his inability to negotiate properly.” Fast forward to 2025, and guess who’s bombing Iran while they were literally at the negotiating table? Yes. Him.

It’s giving “look in the mirror.” It’s giving “war as a hobby.” It’s giving “drag your nation into another endless conflict at the subtle suggestion of... you-know-who.”

The irony? Icy cold. The hypocrisy? Nuclear.

So here we are, once again with America flirting with conflict in the Middle East, and surpris,e surprise, it’s not entirely their own idea. Because when a certain country, one with well-funded lobbies and zero chill, start pulling strings, even the loudest reality stars start marching to the same old beat.

People thought Trump was too unpredictable to start a war. But maybe that’s exactly what made him the perfect pawn.

Last Word: The only thing Trump’s ever negotiated well? A plot twist no one asked for, but everyone saw coming!

When Hate Blurs the Map

Here’s something we don’t talk about enough: how easy it is to let hate hijack your logic. When you dislike someone enough, you’ll side with literally anyone who opposes them, even if that means ignoring facts, red flags, or full-blown war crimes.

It’s not just personal. It’s psychological. Social psychologists call it motivated reasoning, where our emotions, not evidence, shape our beliefs. So instead of thinking, “What’s right?”, we think, “What fits the version of the world I already believe in?”

That’s how people end up cheering for the wrong side of history. Not because they’re evil. But because they’re emotionally invested in being right, even when they’re wrong.

Last Word: If your hate needs a map, maybe it’s time to check the compass.

Until next week, stay sharp, stay grounded, and maybe Google your bias before you defend it.
