views 3Feng Shui, the Oriental art of spatial alignment, has gained immense popularity because it is often believed to bring new fortunes and luck in terms of wealth and career. However, one of the primary aspects of Feng Shui is to harmonize the space to promote good health for the occupants.
The different compass directions hold significant meaning in the science of Feng Shui, with each representing a specific life aspiration and form of support. The central sector of a building or room is considered especially important in Feng Shui, as it symbolizes health. This area strongly influences the well-being of both the building and its occupants.
Classical Feng Shui analysis states that energy (chi) flowing within a building converges more toward the centre, originating from all the corners. Therefore, the centre sector is analogous to the human heart, which sustains all other organs by keeping them alive.
All our daily activities and overall prosperity depend on our mental and physical health. No achievement brings joy or satisfaction if you are feeling ill or unwell and none of your other aspirations in life can be fulfilled, regardless of how strong the Feng Shui of those areas may be, when your health is deteriorating.
The flow of energy in a building should be unobstructed and free-flowing; however, this is not always possible due to various factors. The health sector, which is the centre of the building, can be adversely affected when the energy becomes blocked, leading to frequent illnesses among the occupants. Keeping the centre of the home clean, clutter-free, and well-lit is beneficial. Decorating this central area to emphasize its importance—such as by suspending faceted crystal lights or chandeliers and placing a rug or carpet in warm shades on the floor—can help activate the energy of the centre grid.
One can also enhance the central area of a building through décor and symbolism.
· Peach symbolizes longevity, good health, and a happy married life. Displaying images or paintings of peaches in the centre of the home can be beneficial.
· Paintings or pictures of cranes with a pine tree in the background signify peace, good health, and
happiness.
· Traditionally, displaying figurines of the three wise men, following the Oriental practice often referred
to as Sau (Health), Foo (Wealth), and Lu (Prosperity), is believed to bring this type of luck to the
sector.
· However, the ultimate Feng Shui charm for representing the five elements to balance the chi in the
health area is considered very powerful. Place bamboo stems (wood element) tied together with a
red ribbon (fire element) and some Chinese coins (metal element) in a crystal vase containing water
(water element) with a few natural pebbles inside (earth element) toward the centre sector of your
home to enhance health luck.
Adapting simple time tested methods and symbolisms one could enhance the power of Feng Shui to activate good health luck and longevity.
