Shenali Rajkumar takes great delight in baking cookies, and initially when she was trying to come up with names for her homerun business, she couldn’t seem to come up with anything. Finally, she decided on the name Monster Cookies, as the idea stems from Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster.
She tells the Food Factor that she’s been baking for years, mostly for family and friends, especially for people who always come over. Venturing into something different was what Shenali wanted, as Colombo is already filled to the brim with home bakers specializing in cupcakes.

Monster Cookies is a little over a month old, and so far, the cookies Shenali has baked have garnered a favourable response. The menu isn’t large but short and simple, as the four variants include basic sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, double chocolate chip cookies and chocolate mint cookies.
The sugar cookies can be baked to a specific theme, according to what the customer requires.
The cookies can be wrapped and packaged, so it would be perfect for a gift. Shenali plans to introduce a new flavour each month, and currently she’s working on peanut butter, ginger, and cinnamon flavours.

All the ingredients she uses are locally sourced. The minimum order for batch of cookies is 20 but Shenali says the amount is open for discussion.
