Popular Indian English stand-up comedian Anand Rathnam is set to perform in Sri Lanka for the very first time. With over 10 years in the Indian comedy circuit and a combined following of over 400,000 fans across Instagram and YouTube, Rathnam gained widespread global acclaim following his hit YouTube special, “Stupid Philosophy.”

The upcoming Colombo show marks Rathnam’s first-ever performance outside India. Since ticket sales launched two weeks ago, local buzz has increased. After the first show sold out in under a week, organisers quickly added a second show at 5:00 PM at the M.D. Gunasena Lilian Auditorium, Oasis International School, Colombo-12.
Rather than touring an existing routine, Rathnam is using Colombo as the official launchpad for his brand-new show “Spreading Negativity” before taking it to major cities across India and abroad.
“This show is about relationships, about friends drinking together and dumbness around it,” said Rathnam. “This show can be enjoyed with friends, family or even strangers.”
The event is brought to the island by Indian producer Parakh Gupta through his company, The Grin Club. Gupta, who is accompanying Rathnam on tour, is himself an accomplished comedian who performs in English, Hindi, and Telugu. Colombo audiences will get a firsthand taste of Gupta’s comedic chops as he delivers the evening’s opening English act.
With the first performance completely sold out and limited seats remaining for the 5:00 PM slot, Colombo comedy enthusiasts are in for an unforgettable night of top-tier stand-up.
