views 16CentreStage Productions welcomed supporters and members of Sri Lanka’s arts and theatre community to an exclusive backstage experience of 'A Christmas Carol – The Musical', a magical new show written and composed by Jehan Aloysius. The intimate evening hosted at the Director’s residence offered guests a rare behind-the-scenes experience of this highly anticipated production.
Attendees were treated to an immersive tour featuring the show’s exquisitely designed costumes, crafted by four fashion studios, and a meticulously detailed recreation of Ebenezer Scrooge’s home, complete with props and set pieces built across eight workshops around Sri Lanka.
Guests were thrilled to be allowed to touch, feel, and experience Jehan’s unique eye for detail in every aspect of the new production, and gain insight into the creative process behind this brand-new adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens tale.
The evening included a showcase of performances by the musical’s soloists, followed by an insightful Q&A session with cast members.
The amateur drama group's key team members described the numerous achievements of CentreStage Productions over the last 24 years. Jehan and his Production Manager also spoke about plans for the future of CentreStage Productions.
Indeed, as CentreStage Productions celebrates its 24th year and Jehan Aloysius his 30th as a director, the announcement of "A Christmas Carol - The Musical" serves not only as a testament to their past achievements but also as an exciting glimpse into their vibrant future. It's a clear indication that this powerhouse of Sri Lankan theatre continues to evolve, innovate, and bring the magic of the stage to life for years to come.
The stellar cast of veterans of Sri Lankan English Language Theatre includes Sean Amarasekara, Arjuna Wignarajah, Dion Nanayakkara and Joanne Aloysius Rajiyah, as well as new stars such as Rachel Hettiarachchi, Chaitanya Perera. They are joined by child actors, Kevin Larson, Arali Peiris and others. Jehan Aloysius himself takes on the iconic role of Ebenezer Scrooge.
The producers expressed gratitude to their exclusive partner, Cargills, as well as to media partners Yes FM and Wijeya Newspapers. Laughter and mingling rounded out the night in true Jehan Aloysius (Jaloysius) fashion, leaving guests inspired and delighted.
