Q: What is Patta History for those who don't know?
A: Patta History is a platform dedicated to exploring the rich and diverse history of Sri Lanka through animated stories. We cover all aspects of Sri Lankan history, from ancient times to modern developments. Our goal is to make history accessible, engaging, and visually captivating so everyone can gain a deeper understanding of our nation's past.
Q: Why are we doing the political history series?
A: Our latest series focuses on the history of Sri Lankan politics. With the upcoming elections, we felt it was essential to look back at our political past to give viewers a clearer understanding of how our country has evolved. By reflecting on the decisions of the past, we hope to help our audience make more informed choices about the future.
Q: What do we want for our viewers?
A: We want our viewers to walk away with a deeper knowledge of Sri Lanka’s history, especially in the political realm. By understanding the past, we believe our audience will be able to make better, more informed decisions about their future, particularly when it comes to important events like elections.
Q: About the team
A: Patta History was founded by Ruwani, Geeshan, and Duval, who share a passion for bringing Sri Lanka’s history to life through animated stories. During production, our team grows to around 25 people, with an average age of 30. We are a young and dynamic group with a wide range of talents, including historians, academics, researchers, animators, storyboard artists, writers, editors, illustrators, sound designers, and voice talents. Delano Perera serves as the voice of Patta History, narrating each episode with his distinctive style. Alongside the production team, we also have a community and outreach team dedicated to engaging with our audience and expanding our reach.
Q: What was the event this past Saturday about?
A: This Saturday, we held a special prescreening event where we premiered Episode 3, the series finale of A History of Power in Paradise. It was an exclusive screening for a close group of Patta History fans, friends, and well-wishers. We are thrilled to have reached 22,000 subscribers, and the support has been overwhelming. The event was well received, and we’re excited to continue growing and sharing more of Sri Lanka's history with our audience.
