Cue Theater Co Presents The Count of Monte Cristo

The Cue Theater Co’s production for 2014 The Count of Monte Cristo will be staged at the Bishops College auditorium on the 20th and 21st of June. After a successful production in year 2012 the leading members of Cue could not lay aside their dreams of achieving something greater. The promise made in the dressing room that year of coming back “bigger, better and stronger” never left their minds and here they are today with that promise fulfilled.

Cue began this journey searching for a plot that was just right for our comeback. After months of looking they tumbled upon the idea of adapting the classic novel of Alexander Dumas to stage and within hours they fell in love with it. As the hype grew and the members of the old casts gathered the feeling of family and absolute joy caught on. Their search for newer members began, and soon we had our cast of 25 awesome people – in whose presence you will never find a dull moment. Cue theatre is not focused on finding actors who are talented and seasoned we just welcome people who share our passion for the stage regardless of their experience. They take joy in training and sharing what they know, for them that is the joy of theatre. A place where people of various backgrounds gather and work towards one goal.

Cue Theater Co believes in working for what they love and to them that is almost an obsession. The cast you will see on stage today is not just a stellar cast of performers but also the whole package of this production from its actors to its fund-raisers to its production team. This for them is not being little but being greater for they have proved year after year that to be ‘living the dream’ which is their tagline  all they need is each other and a little bit of faith.

The Count of Mote Cristo is directed by Ranga Jayaratne (LTCL  ATCL  AWWA), Past pupil of Holy family Convent and teacher of Wendy Whatmore Academy of Speech and Drama. Ranga’s passion is to give an opportunity for anyone who loves to perform and she believes in spreading the true spirit of theatre. For her each production is about the people and giving them a safe and friendly atmosphere to express themselves. She believes that theatre should be about the love that you possess for the art and nothing else.

The cast of TCMC comprises of a diverse group of young people with the desire to live their dreams by doing what they love to do which is performing. Moving past the exhilarating yet heartwarming pages of literary genius Alexandre Dumas, comes a theatrical adaptation unlike any other; proudly presented by – Cue theatre co.

With a terrifying yet emotionally written script, the play takes you on a nerve-wracking ride that’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Filled with all the twists and turns friendship lost, betrayal, love, heartbreak, and revenge; the cast of TCMS promises a night of unforgettable literary theatre! This is not a story of friendship, but hatred of man for man – so strong that once again the love of man for woman becomes almost insignificant.
