Telling Tales and Kirihamy: Weekend Double Bill from Power of Play!

Power of Play returns this month with a Double Bill Weekend featuring two unique, interactive performances for the entire family!

On Friday (August 7), from 5.30 to 6.30pm, enjoy 'Telling Tales' at Cargills Bookcity, 3rd floor, Majestic City. Ideally suited to 4 to 8 year olds, Telling Tales demonstrates the infinite number of stories you can create with your bodies, voices and a few simple props! A great work out for the imagination; participants are free to pick a puppet, wear a costume, and become a character in a story or simply sit back, observe the action and be entertained!

On Saturday (August 8), from 10.00 to 11.00am Sybil Wettasinghe's classic tale - 'Kirihamy' will come alive at the MILK Bookstore on Horton Place in Colombo 7. Travel with us to Kirihamy's home and transform yourself into a bird to convince Kirihamy to save his beloved Jackfruit tree! Filled with puppets, dialogue, music and movement, Kirihamy works to instill the joy of reading and reignite the magic of story-telling. The performance will be conducted primarily in English with brief translations in Sinhala and is best suited to 4 – 8 year olds.

Entrance tickets for Telling Tales are priced at Rs. 750/-. To register, contact Cargills Book City on (011) 2593035 or 0773470467. Kirihamy at MILK is priced at Rs.1000/= per head and includes props and accessories. For more information or pre registrations call the MILK Bookstore on 112696256. Every participant requires a ticket. Parents are encouraged to accompany their children to make this a true family experience.
