'Open Mic' is the latest venture by the Old Joes' Choir to push the limits of choral music. Having already been successful in bridging the void between choral music and theatre through story telling using the instrument of music and song, the OJC will journey further by depicting characters and their respective emotions and life stories through song.
The setting will be an 'Open Mic' Night at a pub wherein patrons of the establishment are invited to sing about their life stories.
The songs will in turn take the audience down the paths of each of these patrons ‐ their youth, their hopes and expectations, perhaps their naivety. The songs will then evolve into a more mature tone as the characters develop, reflecting a more jaded view about life.
But during the course of the night, they will realize that the present and the future is what they make it to be and that they should be the hope and the change that they wish to create.
