A Japanese Cultural Exhibition will be held at the Lionel Wendt Gallery, No. 18, Guildford Crescent, Colombo 7, from 5th to 6th September 2015. The Exhibition has been organized by the Embassy of Japan in collaboration with the Japanese Language Teachers’ Association of Sri Lanka, and will feature Ikebana (floral arrangements), Bonsai (miniature tree planting) and Origami (paper folding) in the form of display and demonstrations. Moreover, special tea ceremony and Shakuhachi (bamboo flute) performance are also scheduled and their performers respectively will be flown from Japan for this Exhibition.

The Exhibition will be open to the general public on 5th September from 12.00 noon to 6.00 p.m. and on 6th September from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00.p.m. Admission to the Exhibition is free of charge. Demonstrations will be held as follows;

Demonstrations

Shakihachi - September 5 & 6 (11.15am)
Tea Ceremony - September 5 (13:30pm - 14:30pm) and September 6 (10.00am - 11.00am)
Bonsai - September 6 (13.00pm - 14.00pm)  
Ikebana - September 5 (14:45pm - 15:45pm) and September 6 (14:15pm - 15:15pm)  
Origami - September 5 (16:00pm - 17:00pm) and September 6 (15:30pm - 16:30pm)

The Exhibition is designed to display Japan’s culture and lifestyle and thereby to further enhance the friendly relations between the peoples of Japan and Sri Lanka.
