FÊTE DE LA MUSIQUE  at  ALLIANCE FRANCAISE DE COLOMBO

ALLIANCE FRANçAISE DE COLOMBO , the Leading French Language and Cultural Centre in Colombo since 1955 , once again presents Fête de la Musique -  International Music Day  2014 on Sunday  22 nd  JUNE at their Air Conditioned Auditorium at 11, Barnes Place (near Town Hall) , Colombo 7. It’s a unique Music Festival and All Are Welcome. Entrance  is FREE of Charge.

The response has been overwhelming and organisers are finding it difficult to give a chance for everyone to perform . Many Musicians  Professionals and Others will be there to entertain you from 10 am to 5.30 pm. Annesley Malewana & His Band SUPER CHIMES will provide background  music for the participants. The performances will include Pop, Jazz, Reggae, Folk, Country Music & Western, Calypso, Dancing Groups,  Bands and Baila sessions, a meeting place of cultures and the opportunity to share the joy of listening and appreciating a Variety of Melodies sung in English, French, Sinhala, Hindi & Tamil.

Fête de la Musique  - International Music Day which started off in 1982, saw amateur and professional Musicians of France take to the streets on June 21st to celebrate the beginning of summer. On this day after a dismal spring the whole of France breaks in to a gigantic celebration of music song and dance. People head for the squares and parks and perform free of cost for the benefit of on lookers and for their own pleasure.

In Sri Lanka this event has grown in popularity amongst the Young and Old and every year a lot of people participate and, many people of all ages come to see this event and enjoy a full days music FREE of Charge. Soft drinks and food will be available at reasonable rates.

Many popular musicians such as Ronnie Leitch, Annesley Malewana, Anthony Surendra, Judy de Silva, Dushyanth Weeraman, Jayantha Ratnayake in addition to some of Sirasa &  Derana Super Stars, and many more will perform as guest artistes and keep you on your toes with their super acts. Ever popular Annesley Malewana will also perform along with his talented Band SUPER CHIMES through the day belting out the English and popular Sinhala Pops including the great songs of the Maestro late Clarence Wijewardena.

So spend your Sunday 22nd JUNE relaxing and listening to your Favourite Musicians at  Alliance Française DE COLOMBO Auditorium from 10 a.m. to 5.30. p.m.  and enjoy a Full Days Music Non Stop, Sing Song and Dance in a Carnival atmosphere  FREE of Charge. There will be a special session of Sing Song and Dancing with the Stars late afternoon.
