
Low mood is a common enough symptom that bears its fangs in response to a plethora of circumstance including those that warrant the loss of a loved one. Be as it may that the loss is caused by a badly timed death or a well timed restraining order.
While depression at a clinical level is one that requires medical attention, everyday low mood is a fixable situation and that’s where music comes in.
But the question is what music helps to ease the anguish. In a way listening to either over the top happy music or melancholy tracks should both sufficiently remedy the malady, either by providing escapist happiness or relatable misery. The question is what you can bring yourself to listen to when you’re in the depths of misery. Here’s a quick list of personal favourites to fix any bad mood.
Yellow Card
The American pop-punk-rock group is top of the list and it’s definitely not a coincidence. As forgotten as they may be, the band has in credit to their name an arsenal of feel good music that combines their unique touch of assembles complete with the genre-unorthodox violin and biting lyrics.
Special mention worthy tracks include; Ocean Avenue, Way away, Empty apartment, Twenty three, Lights and sounds, Only one and One year six months.

Since its initiation in 1997 the band has consistently fed the genre with their diverse tracks united by the common theme of lost love. Most tracks feature strong lyrical content which engages the listener on a level where it offers insight and provides a sense of comfort and relativity.
Lead by the now star studded female vocalist Hayley Williams, Paramore is a hit yesteryear ensemble with hugely successful tracks in the calibre of; Crush crush crush, Misery business, That’s what you get (when you let your heart win) and Only exception is a must have in your feel good playlist.
The lyrics are thought provoking and well crafted, focusing mainly on the anger ridden aspect of heartbreak. The music which is largely rooted in the rock genre leaves little room for wallowing in self pity.

Hayley delivers a bone numbing delivery melding her honed vocal prowess with the raw energy of the lyrical tone. Heartbreak or not paramore is a treat for the ears.
Famed for such tracks as Face down and Your guardian angel, RJA is a Florida based Alternative-punk-rock band is heavy and soft in all the right places, the perfect mix for bad moods. Even though some of their tracks found mainstream glory, some of their better work remains under the carpet heard only by few appreciating music lovers.

Tracks such as Cat and mouse, Disconnected, False pretense, Don’t you fake it and an all time personal favourite Damn Regret are songs that never made it out of the genre onto the mainstream but have the delivery and accompaniment worth the heartbreak.
Based in Las Vegas Nevada, this band is probably the most unique and though listed last is definitely not the least of this list. PATD plays unorthodox music largely vocal driven with cluttered lyrical content that delivers a story well beyond the measure of its timeframe, often handing a cynical outlook at such conventional unities as marriage.

Deceit and mistrust are highlighting themes in their music and are depicted with situational clarity in tracks like I write sins not tragedies and Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off. The sound is a satirical one that nevertheless is satisfactory, providing a fresh perspective to your own heartbreak by ridiculing it.
