What key words are common to Thailand & Sri Lanka?

Indian Ocean
Tropical climate
Rice

And COCONUTS!!

A tropical twist of Thai and Sri Lankan fusion cuisine is showcased at Cantaloupe Aqua’s Coconut Restaurant, a casually elegant enclave on the Southern Coast.

Just 8km east of Sri Lanka's vibrant Galle Fort, this ocean front restaurant is a perfect lounge on the Southern Beach to enjoy flavorful dishes inspired by delectable eastern & western palates.

The menu by Executive Chef Nandana, features a selection of fresh, succulent food with unique combinations of seasoning, carefully balanced to bring out the eclectic Sri Lankan flavor combined with Thai flair.

The Spicy Coconut & Tuna wraps are perfect for a quick munch while sipping a tropical beverage. The rustic tuna flavour complemented by spicy coconut (pol sambol) is a simple treat on the starters menu.

Next up was the Northeastern Thai salad made from shredded unripe papaya. Better known as Som Tam in Thailand, the Crunchy Papaya Salad with Roasted Coconut Cashew Nut topped with Chilli & Lime dressing is a refreshingly juicy starter on a warm day.

The infused Thai cuisine is known for its unique blend of seasoning and rare combinations. The Galangalin Coconut broth with the inclusion of lime turmeric ginger and seafood gave the Bangkok Bouillabaisse a wonderful citrusy oriental flavour that really lends itself to serving hot.

The Chilli & Lime Laksa is a coconut based curry soup which fuses Malay, Thai and Sri Lankan. It has a rich flavour and warmth that clearly comes about from the chili and spices in the paste.

The Mains include a classic Asian twist of sugar & spice, the Coconut & Lemongrass coated yellow fin tuna wrap in banana leaf served with coriander rice & roasted bell peppers & Stir Fried Vegetables with creamy coconut and savoury roasted cashew nut rice.

And for the meat lovers, the Grilled Chicken Thigh in Spicy Coconut & Tamarind Sauce, served with red curried sticky rice, wilted spinach and a dash of coriander & lime dressing is a splendid combination while the  Massaman Curry , Red Sticky Rice with Stir fried long beans oozes the traditional Sri Lankan spice and a touch of Thai essence.

A must try on the dessert menu is the Homemade Coconut ice cream with sweet chillie. It’s creamy, smooth, and deliciously coconutty, you'll fall in love with this homemade ice cream with just one lick. It is also healthier than most store-bought ice cream and perfect for a hot day treat or for a welcome dessert anytime of the year.

If you’re up for a crunchy sweet delicacy, pick the Crunchy Banana in Butter Scotch Coconut Cream and don’t fail to taste the much loved Sri Lankan sweet marvel known as ‘lavariya’, the Coconut & Pani Pol Crepe with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.

The Coconut restaurant also explores Tapas in scrumptious portions.

Be apart of the Tapas experience with an array of a startling mix and match of flavours and ingredients from the East & West.

The word "tapas" is derived from the Spanish verb tapar, "to cover". It has its own history and has established a cuisine culture that has become quite sophisticated and sought after.

The philosophy behind Cantaloupe Aqua's Tapas selection is plating up small, eccentric dishes that pack a big punch in terms of flavour and texture.

The Gothamba Roti Wrap with Gotukola Salsa served with s a subtly sweet Thai Green Chilli Sauce is the first dish of its kind ever to be prepared anywhere in the island. The unexpected turn of flavours is a perfect authentic and juicy portion of Tapas. Cantalopue Aqua continues with its experimentation of new blends flavours and ingredients with the Chicken Fruit Salad. The tropical fruity flavor adds to healthy dining options, when you’re on vacation.

Other appetizing tapas items include Taco Bambas, Chicken Quesadillas, Peri Peri Prawns, Three Cheese Garlic Bread and an extensive array to choose from.

You could spice up your vacation with Coconut’s ‘On the Grill’ dishes including Chicken Thighs, Stuffed Calamari, Seer Fillet, Mini Steak and the Seafood Skewer served with tropical marinades and sauces.

Coconut offers an ideal spot to enjoy a meal or sip on cocktails with friends or family, watching a late afternoon sunset.
