Single motherhood is an emotionally challenging episode in life. The fact that you have to head a household, looking in to the needs of your child, parents and yourself is exhausting. Countless other moms grapple with exactly the same issues – from self-doubt and anxiety over money to the stress of making decisions alone – and they've come up with some creative solutions that may work for you too.

Hence, let’s take a look at few challenges and possible solutions :

Challenge 1 :

Having no partner indeed is quite stressful and it could lead to a bad-parenting day.

Solution : If you want to put your children to sleep, do that and do not show your anger towards them. Remember that they too are having a difficult time.

Challenge 2 :

Self-doubt

Solution : Surround yourself with other mothers of young kids. Listen to where they fall short and learn your lessons.

Challenge 3 :

Making decisions solo

Solution : Over time you should realize that things will work and look at decision-making as an honour. At one point you will feel confident and independent.

Challenge 4 :

Missing kids when they are with the other parent

Solution : Loneliness is a constant challenge and being without kids adds to it. The best thing for you to do is to make it a ‘me’ time for you. Catch up with an old friend or go shopping and do things that will keep you occupied. This way you will have less time to think about your kids.

Challenge 5 :

Stress and anxiety about money

Solution : Cost of living is escalating and the fact that you have to look into the needs of your children from paying their school fees to buying what they like is stressful. Write out a budget for the month and try to stick to it. Take a few minutes out of your schedule to work out so that you will feel less stressed.

Challenge 6 :

Losing a sense of self

Solution : Females are often expected to be wonder woman but that is often not the case. Take at least one hour off your schedule for yourself. Write a journal or draw and calm yourself down. Sometimes a good nap is all you need.
