Flight: L.A
Date: 5th June
The rich and famous always travel in style. The Lous Vitton cabin bags rolling down the aisles, the finest attire and those breathe taking jimmy choo’s. They would not settle for anything but the finest bubbly, finest caviar and of course the finest service as in their private jets. Due to the economic turmoil and the cost of running a self owned aircraft, many have turned to premium cabins of commercial airlines today. However there are many who still wouldn’t dare to give up the privilege of their own flying machine.
For many cabin crews who love being cabin crew it is a dream to be working in a private jet. Simply, it is more money, less regulations and extravagant long layovers. However it is of paramount importance to be able to keep their traps shut about these important people’s journeys. It is always interesting to meet crew who fly for the royals or the rich..jpg)
They are the bunch who have experienced the weirdest, yet amazing situations on board. One such crew, who finally has achieved enough to retire for the rest of her life, was travelling in first class today, going back home. She entertained us with some of her amazing encounters on this long flight (still guarding the secret for whose private jet she worked for).
It was interesting to know that there were absolutely no regulations as to what they could bring on board. “Once I remember after a trip to Australia, we brought back baby Kangaroos for the kids to play with!” Imagine that a live kangaroo hopping about in the aircraft. “That’s the last thing I would want in my cabin!” one crew blurted out with laughter.
She gave her the “wait- for-it” look and said, “Once we went on a safari to Africa, and the next thing I know as they boarded gave me a little baby wrapped in blanket!” I thought gosh not another baby to make milk for! And for my relief it was a baby lion!”
Some of her stories made our eye balls pop out, as she said the highest tip she ever received was more than 10,000 dollars, and they used to get Rolex watches as holiday gifts. As many people would say these were gifts for “other benefits”. She ensured that for most of these people what mattered was loyal service and privacy.
After entertaining us with some delightful stories, as she was disembarking, one cheeky airhostess asked her “So who’s private jet was this that you were working for?” She winked and said, “It’s for me to know, and for you to find out!” True to her words the guessing game kept the crew more awake than usual on the way to the hotel.
Love, Dany
