WTF The Closet

What - The Closet
Where - Aura Café Colombo
When - 10th of July

This week, WTF together with Kings Co set out to find some talent that’s world class. We Sri Lankans love to dress up, and today it’s amazing to see how many new designers are bringing out fab designs and with interesting features.

I think it was a great idea, it was super warm at the time I went in, but later it cooled down which was more my thing!

For this week I was dressed by an online designer clothing brand, which sells only limited number of pieces - THIRTEEN • THIRTYONE! You can shop on their Facebook page or call them on (+94) 77 5713902 or on email [email protected]. Speaking to one half of this brand, the very beautiful Inoma De Silva, she says “At THIRTEEN • THIRTYONE, be assured of the highest quality on every garment, handpicked fabrics and absolute originality with only a LIMITED NUMBER of each design produced.” And I’m a fussy customer, and this place has made me happy!

Next door I met Clubhouse Vivaldi. A few weeks back I was asked to try their jungi (underwear) out, and as a man, it's confortable and very friendly on your private parts. Speaking to these cool guys they said “Our vision is to create an apparel buying experience that exceeds expectations through a superior quality, comfortable, and innovative product at an affordable price. And our passion is to create a long-standing brand that adapts to your ever changing, expressive, and individualistic needs.”

Another brand I love on me is O:LIVE Couture, and it's great to see all these brands making big names. O:LIVE Couture is a high-end fashion label. It is dedicated to serve men and women with made to measure clothing. Speaking to my dear friend and designer Sammani she had this to say about the pop up sale “I love this concept, you get a chance to meet those who love to dress well, and it’s a chance to see the others and the great work they do for fashion!”

With them there were many who shared the closet space with interesting fashion statements such as:

- Curves by Angie
- THIRTEEN THIRTYONE
- Malüba by Marlon
- O:live Couture
- Shay Int.
- Xodus Apparel
- ROYAL & REGAL
- Threads N Chains
- Squared Designs
- Seven Islands
- The Pink Lotus
- EGO
- Hotspot CMB
- Island Lush
- Clubhouse Vivaldi
- VAR VARA
- LOVI Sarongs
- The Curve Closet
- 1OAK
- Aganaa
- 20first

I asked the name behind Aura Café as to why she wanted to do this, and she had this to say “The Closet was Colombo's first clothing and accessories market. It sure did give men and women a place to browse and shop their favourite labels whilst enjoying some chilled tunes and great food!”

I’m told the next one will be in August. Keep following WTF, and we will keep you posted!

Danu Innasithamby

Danu Innasithamby is proof that one person can survive on coffee, curiosity, and an unhealthy number of WhatsApp messages. A television host, actor, producer, writer, and professional chatterbox, he’s spent years turning conversations into stories and stories into memorable television. Born in Jaffna and proudly calling Sri Lanka home, Danu has built a career around asking the questions everyone else is thinking—but with a smile that usually gets him out of trouble. Whether he’s interviewing celebrities, hosting major events, judging competitions, or chasing the next great story, there’s never really a dull moment. When he’s not on screen, he’s busy supporting local talent, championing meaningful causes through Sri Lankan Smile, or convincing himself that “just one more project” is a perfectly reasonable life choice. Known for his humour, colourful suits, quick wit, and the ability to make almost anyone laugh, Danu believes life is best lived with good conversations, great food, and a healthy dose of sarcasm. If you spot him, don’t be surprised if you’re suddenly part of an interview… or at least a really entertaining conversation.
