WTF and You’re My Favorite had a big presence at CFW this year, and I loved the theme that Ajai chose for this year - to celebrate the vibrant city called Colombo!

Colombo Fashion Week’s fourteenth edition looked super powered, as the local and international designers showcased trends for the season. Thirty designers, over a period of four days, were a delight to be a part of this fashion week! The international designers included Gaetano Navarra, Abraham and Thakore, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Bibi Russell who touched me with the cause behind her collection, (she is such a sweetheart!) and Rimzim Dadu.

And there was a strong line up of Sri Lankan designers: Darshi Keertisena who came back after a break, Upeksha Hager, Charini Suriyage, Ramona Oshini, MAUS, Dimuthu Sahabandu who was breathtaking, Conscience, Meraki, Fouzul Hameed, Jaishree, Amilani Perera, Catherine Rawson, Peronie Stefel, LOVI Ceylon and Nilanka. Some had their first time on the CFW runway.

This year, the emerging designers showcased their collections on the opening day. It was a boost to see young talent making big headlines with their baby steps into the fashion industry. I loved the opening designer Dinushi Pamunuwa who took the art of batik to another level by using lines to complete her collection. The other designer who stood out that night was Marlon Rae.

Ethical Fashion Day was another highlight to the lineup as it was reintroduced and was scheduled to be held on March 17. Speaking to Ajai the driving force for the brand CFW, he says “This year is all about taking places of Colombo and making them shine. That is what I hope to do!” His faith and his passion have made their 14th year on the runway a great success!

Danu Innasithamby

Danu Innasithamby is proof that one person can survive on coffee, curiosity, and an unhealthy number of WhatsApp messages.
