Christmas around Colombo on WTF

What - Lights, decor and Christmas joy
Where - Colombo

Today on WTF, I took to the road with the You’re My Favorite team once again to capture the best time of the year, to see where the Christmas spirit is alive, as it seems like silent Christmas for 2016.

But we did drive around a few places for you to see this year.

We stopped at Park Street, as it's always a nice walk down that street - which was once a rundown area, and is now full of lights. It's an orange Christmas there.

I was very surprised with Arpico Supercentre down Hyde Park Corner. I loved the workmanship and the massive blue lit up tree. It’s a good place to drive by.

Then we drove by the Maharaja Christmas Street. It's amazing, the amount of lights they have used, and it really does add the season's joy! You have to park a bit further away and walk, and I will say it's totally worth it!

Cinnamon Lakeside has a cute Santa taking off to the sky. The decor is simple and the main tree is decked up with wrapped gifts, and it’s a very purple Christmas there.

Last year I gave my favourite award to Cinnamon Grand, but this time it’s a tight fight! Cinnamon Grand has an amazing layout this season with a pink Christmas. It's warm and amazing, and the walkway to the hotel is breathtaking. Additionally, the pink fireplace is lovely.

The Hilton Colombo has gone to town, and I love the warm touch with the toy soldiers standing tall and love how the theme has been displayed in every part of the hotel and the tree is truly a piece of art.

So my choice for best Christmas decor this year is the Hilton Colombo and Cinnamon Grand Colombo.

Have a wonderful Christmas, and may God always bless you!

Danu Innasithamby is proof that one person can survive on coffee, curiosity, and an unhealthy number of WhatsApp messages. A television host, actor, producer, writer, and professional chatterbox, he’s spent years turning conversations into stories and stories into memorable television. Born in Jaffna and proudly calling Sri Lanka home, Danu has built a career around asking the questions everyone else is thinking—but with a smile that usually gets him out of trouble. Whether he’s interviewing celebrities, hosting major events, judging competitions, or chasing the next great story, there’s never really a dull moment. When he’s not on screen, he’s busy supporting local talent, championing meaningful causes through Sri Lankan Smile, or convincing himself that “just one more project” is a perfectly reasonable life choice. Known for his humour, colourful suits, quick wit, and the ability to make almost anyone laugh, Danu believes life is best lived with good conversations, great food, and a healthy dose of sarcasm. If you spot him, don’t be surprised if you’re suddenly part of an interview… or at least a really entertaining conversation.
