Christmas is all about giving and this festive season, as we forego grand celebrations to small, intimate gatherings, these rescues could use some holiday cheer and support.
Sri Lanka's oldest animal welfare organization, AWPA ( AWPA The Animals’ Welfare and protection Association Sri Lanka ) is currently sheltering nearly 400 dogs and 100 cats at their shelters in Dehiwala and Kahathuduwa. With a daily shelter cost of Rs.9,000 and other medical expenses sometimes running upto a million - giving these rescues a home is a rewarding but costly affair.
