Apple To Kill An Old Friend?

Let’s not jump into conclusions now, Apple isn’t going to kill a person, but this will certainly fill you with grief.

Apple has always been popular for pushing forward in innovation, making statements, but this time it has gone too far. About a month ago, rumours started flying around by a Chinese site Anzhuo stating that the supply chain for 3.5mm port would be removed on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to make it even thinner, and resulting people to move towards wireless headphones or wired headphones that connect via the existent Lightning port.

We can’t really be surprised if Apple does show up with a new phone without a 3.5mm jack. Apple has been removing once-standard ports from devices from time to time, like the way they killed the DVD disc drive in their PCs and more recently, replaced the standard USB ports with a new, forward-thinking USB Type-C port in its super slim and light 12-inch MacBook.

The removal of the jack would result in a vast majority of unhappy customers, especially users who have dumped money on third party headphones, which don’t come at a wallet friendly price and let’s not forget the fact that you cannot listen to music while charging your phone.

The only solution is to get a lightning to 3.5mm adapter which by Apple would cost around a kidney and a lung just for an adapter, but not to fear where there is demand there is production, so we can hope for high quality adapters from third parities. Headphone manufacturers like Philips have already released wireless headphones with lightning connectors.

Although this will cause initial complaints if it were to launch, headphone companies and people will likely adapt.
