What -  Blue Spoon
Where  -  90A, Jawatta Road - Colombo 5
When - 10.30 am to 7.30 PM
Who   - Adrian and Hanna

On WTF this week, we visited Blue Spoon and it’s cosy little set up down Jawatta Road, Blue spoon is all about giving you comfort food and the cafe style environment goes perfectly with it. I tried a wide range of mains from burgers to submarines which were full of stuffing, to even steamed and pan-fried dumplings. But if you are in the mood for some kicks you can have their fried prawns with a sauce where the recipe secrets have been kept tight within the family.

Blue spoon has been in the catering service from 1995, located in the heart of Colombo. With the vision of serving you warm, memorable, mouth-watering food and coffee in a cosy environment.’ Blue Spoon has been trusted by many since 1995, from being a home baker to catering - now they have opened their doors to you down Jawatta Road. The food varies from Thai, Chinese, Indian, Italian and Sri Lankan.

I have to say I’m a big fan of their sweet items. There is something so special about it, you taste family and good memories with every bite. Blue Spoon was founded by our recipe creator, spoon and whisk expert, Kumi Pickering. It is currently run by her whole family, inclusive of her husband Michael, and her daughter Hannah.

Danu Innasithamby

Danu Innasithamby is proof that one person can survive on coffee, curiosity, and an unhealthy number of WhatsApp messages. A television host, actor, producer, writer, and professional chatterbox, he’s spent years turning conversations into stories and stories into memorable television. Born in Jaffna and proudly calling Sri Lanka home, Danu has built a career around asking the questions everyone else is thinking—but with a smile that usually gets him out of trouble. Whether he’s interviewing celebrities, hosting major events, judging competitions, or chasing the next great story, there’s never really a dull moment. When he’s not on screen, he’s busy supporting local talent, championing meaningful causes through Sri Lankan Smile, or convincing himself that “just one more project” is a perfectly reasonable life choice. Known for his humour, colourful suits, quick wit, and the ability to make almost anyone laugh, Danu believes life is best lived with good conversations, great food, and a healthy dose of sarcasm. If you spot him, don’t be surprised if you’re suddenly part of an interview… or at least a really entertaining conversation.
