Sameera Weerasinghe & Charitha Waidyasiri bag Model Star Awards in Seoul, Korea

Sri Lanka’s premier male fashion model Sameera Weerasinghe and the beautiful Charitha Waidyasiri won Model Star Awards at the Asia Model Festival Awards (AMFA) 2013. This extravagant event was held at Olympic Hall, Seoul Korea on 15 January 2013.
The AMFA is an annual awards ceremony that recognises models and stars from all over Asia for their activities and promotions in the development of culture and arts.
Team Life Online met Sameera and this is what he had to say.
“It was a great experience; as if we were at the Oscar awards, with over 200 cameras taking pictures of us while we were walking on the huge red carpet, wow what a feeling. I learned some Korean and talked with the organising committee and some participants and they were impressed too.”
Charitha added, “I honestly represented my country in South Korea with lots of dignity and pride. I gained Best Star Model 2013 which bought fame and pride to my Island as a front runner in this trade. I feel our industry has achieved many goals. I feel Sri Lanka will be more highlighted with these…. I well and strongly believe that we can achieve many goals without running down others for their personal gains and it is better to work as a team on behalf of the nation and its people.”

When I asked the electric duo about their experience of being with models around the world,
Sameera said, “The event was very fun and we got to know many from all around Asia. I felt that models from India and we were the same. We socialised and enjoyed it a lot and didn’t feel any differences. We were highlighted I guess. Everyone thanked us for coming. Just like Sri Lankans have hospitality, I saw they respect others. I saw that quality in them.”
Whilst Charitha, “We had good memories with other nationals who came that day. But I feel we were highlighted. Our image and culture is different than them and that was highlighted throughout the pageant”.

Jan 23, 2013 12:00 amFirst I want to point out only 2 lines of my comment has been published. WHY ARE COMMENTS NOT PUBLISHED IN FULL? WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS? I still maintain that Smeera's attire is clownish compared to how men dress at award ceremonies in other parts of the world. Some one with a knowledge of sartorial elegance could have advised him on this issue.

Take a good look at the pictures as to how poorly he is dressed? How well she is attired for an international contest. The same could not be said of her male companion. I have no personal interest, my comments were only a critique , for improvement only. I have no animosity whatsoever to this gentleman Sameera. No one has to accept my critique, either one could take it for improvement or just ignore it. Thank you.

Gabo have you got any advice on what make a better model? why don't you spend sometime to give him personal advice by contacting him. I'm sure you can find his contact easily as this model famous in the industry.
