“Everything that could possibly be wrong with a city was wrong with Calcutta”

Kaushanava Choudhury is an Indian American reporter and writer his first book is ‘The Epic City: The World on the Streets in Calcutta’.

The Epic City takes the reader through Calcutta in Kushanava’s voice where he paints portraits of everyday lives in Calcutta.

When Kaushanava was 12, he left his childhood memories of Calcutta when he moved to America and at the session he spoke about how he felt that he left a part of his childhood in Calcutta.

“When I left to the USA, I separated my childhood with adulthood and this void is one that was never filled.”

He spoke in depth about the streets of Calcutta and painted pictures of the small things that make Calcutta unique.

We also spoke to some of the audience members who attended the session to gather a few comments;
