Travelling as crew or passengers, personal safety is very important. They say that when you are afraid that adrenaline kicks in to device a response to protect yourself. Instincts and intuition plays a great role in personal safety. Having travelled around the globe, in to so-called “safe” or “unsafe “destinations, I have been always concerned about my personal safety.

It starts from the moment that hotel key card is handed over to you. As in a jungle, predators are so good at lurking behind their targets. It is good to be excited, chirpy and meeting up with colleagues for dinner later, however shouting out the room number to each other isn’t smart. Also it is worth holding on to that key card carefully.

Some may really do think that it is paranoia to be conducting a security search of the hotel room before entering, but alas I do so. It’s always fun to think that gremlins are hiding behind the closet, under the bed, behind the curtains than finding a real psycho in the room later. In this world of constant travelling nobody could be trusted. As some may leave the T.V or lights ON in the room if they are out, I tend to leave the Do Not Disturb sign on the door handle, if I am heading out for sight-seeing.

Sometimes it is disheartening to see airhostess’s becoming easy targets on the streets. Of course if you are wearing that expensive bag and jimmy choos everybody is going to notice you. Even some tourists clicking pictures with their expensive cameras are an easy goal.  It’s always good to blend in to the society that you walk in to. Try not to look posh and out of place. After all if you call yourself a traveler, it could be an opportunity to embrace a new culture.

Stupid article. "Try not to look posh and out of place" on what earth are air hostesses specially a South Asian more posh. Of course out of place due to being a brown skinned Asian and a cheap Srilankan at that. The writer should understand an air hostess is just a waitress taught to handle seat belts and wash toilets.
