Flight: Larnaca
Jan 18th
Usually on every flight, after every meal service, just when the seat belt sign comes on, and at the top of decent, passengers line up like a swarm of bees near all available lavatories. Today was no different. Some just sleep walk in to it, some desperately hold it counting the number of people in front of them. Hydration is very important up in the air, I remember one unfortunate day when I was travelling as a passenger; I drank almost two litres of water and stood in a long queue squirming like a worm praying for my turn to come quick. So I would say I understand when a young man kept going on up and down the aisles desperately looking for a vacant lavatory.
However there are also the people who never like to wait their turn. As soon as the washroom was vacant, another gentleman who had no signs of desperation, stepped in almost

pushing off the young chap who was finally next. As patient as he had been, he wasn’t going to embarrass himself in front of hundreds of people and staring airhostesses. Unfortunately for him, even after a good 10 minutes the gentleman didn’t come out. After another couple of minutes the emergency call bell in the lavatory went off, and my fellow airhostess went in to check whether the passenger was all right.
There the passenger was, seated; pants pulled down to his feet with irritation drawn on his face asking, “Can I have a newspaper or a magazine?” The young chap who was waiting outside for a long time bursted out laughing so loud, he wet himself. “I thought peeing in my pants was embarrassing!” he blurted out hysterically trying to catch his breath, trying to hide his face that was turning white as a ghost.
My colleague who was more annoyed to be called upon for an 'ease out' newspaper sternly said to the passenger “Sir, would you mind coming out and getting a magazine that you like, please? This gentleman has been waiting here for his turn for over half an hour now... Please come out immediately and let this gentleman use the bathroom, (as thanks to you now he needs to change in to a new pair of jeans!)," she muttered.
The annoyed passenger came out of the toilet finally and scanned through the magazine racks for a newspaper. When the young chap finally got some peace of mind, the other passenger started knocking on the door. The airhostess approached with a sneer on her face and opened the ash tray, and pretended to look through a peep hole and said “Yes, he’s almost done; oh by the looks of it, he’s going to need a lot of tissue!” The ignorant passenger suddenly turned red and sneaked in to another toilet with his newspaper.
Love, Dany
