A booty welcome!

Flight: Belfast

Date:  10th January

It was going to be a long flight to the land of the Irish. Though pretty cold in winter, it is a charming place to be with great natural beauty and gorgeous Gerard Butler like chaps walking by.  Some of the newbie’s were pretty excited to go there for the first time, and no doubt they just watched re runs of P.S. I Love you last night.

The day started early, yet bubbly, and all the crew carried on with their pre flight security checks and safety equipment checks.  As a habit most of us do check the seats randomly to see if there is a mechanical issue, to rectify it on ground sooner than later.  Most of the times the engineers are helpful, and a chirpy young fellow was called upon to attend to a Business class flat bed seat problem.

It was so important to get it rectified on time, as a long flight there was no way a paid customer going to be patient sitting upright.  The engineer get on to his knees and started fixing the seat, and as the boarding started, crew almost forgot that he was on board.

Welcoming customers is very important in any business. The first impression counts and last long-especially on air. So there was the crew smiling their teeth out, greeting passengers, taking their coats, offering drinks, having a chit chat about their onwards journey. While in conversation with a lovely family who were travelling for the first time, a lady almost in her 40’s approached me with a mischievous smirk on her face. She said out loud “Can I please get a seat without a half naked man please? Or at least a bit better looking one?”

Almost grabbing her boarding pass, I ran to the scene with a male colleague, to deal with this disruptive passenger, who has sat on the wrong seat, and was naked (So we thought). To my dismay and relief at the same time, it was the engineer still working on the mechanical problem, he was so engorged in his work, he wasn’t aware that his pants fell off and his naked bum was the first to welcome the passenger.

That was probably included in the engineer’s most embarrassing moment’s list, and hopefully his “Avurudu” gifts would include a tight belt and underwear!

Love, Dany
