Kukka as she is known to her nearest and dearest is a number cruncher by profession working for a US multinational. Kukka has just discovered the joys of baking which sits well with her love for tea! Living in the Big Apple, the city that never sleeps, Kukka is one adventerous being having crossed European borders in her boyfriend’s boot in the 80s. 

Why do you love travel? 

It is the adventure! It is nice to step outside your comfort zone and try new food , make new friends and enjoy the whole cultural experience. 

Your favourite travel destination and why? 

The Galápagos Islands as it is a world within itself. 

 

What do you need for a perfect holiday? 

An open mind. 

In which country have you felt most at home? 

I love visiting Sri Lanka. 

Most unusual souvenir you have brought home? 

Shot glasses. 

Worst holiday or travel experience? 

Crossing Elephant Pass in 2005 and looking for a place to pee in a mine infested forest. 

 

Best piece of travel advice? 

Travel light and don't forget to take your toilet paper. 

Your top five travel destinations? 

Sri Lanka, Brazil, Galápagos Islands, Spain and Turkey. 

 

What has travel taught you? 

The world is not a dangerous place. 

Which country did you taste the best ever cuisine? 

The Tuna & Crab in Galle. 

 

Next travel destination? 

Cross country America. Travelling through Route 66, eating junk food, staying at motels. The whole experience.
