Designer Rukshi Fernando launched a new collection of funky swimwear inspired by spring colours and tribal prints. One of Sri Lanka’s best known homegrown swimwear brands, Rum Punch has continued to present fresh collections with cuts and styles that are impressive, and this new collection is no exception. 

What is the name of your latest collection? 

Tribal Dash 

What were you inspired by to create this collection? 

Spring colours and Tribal prints. As we were doing the launch with Jaguar, they wanted me to create a collection to connect with “Jaguar - E pace “that shows power! 

What are the colour schemes you have used? 

Purple, Black and White with a few Pop colors 

How would you describe your collection? 

It is a collection that shows power.

What characteristics or body shapes of girls do you take into account when designing swimwear? 

I try to create swimwear that will complement all types of body shapes and all types of heights.

Confident, Powerful and  fun 

What else makes your swimwear unique, besides the fit? 

- Colours that Rumpunch use to create a collection 
- Rumpunch swimwear can be worn for water sports, Yoga as well as leisure 
- Fuze by Rumpunch - you can create your own swimsuit 

You have a huge following on social media. How helpful is that to market your collection? 

Social media is a big part for us. We communicate strongly via Social media 

The one-piece swimsuit is seeing a resurgence in popularity - why do you think that is? 

Because it’sin trend and always be as well. Personally, I think one piece swimsuits are sexier than two-piece swimsuits.
