Hosting one of the best views of the city, Galadari Hotels “The California Grill will be celebrating its 24th anniversary on the 25th of June, in grand style by spoiling all those who walk into a special day menu.

California Grill is one of the city's oldest fine dining restaurants, located at the rooftop of the Galadari Hotel. They serve a selection of seafood, steak and grills as well as a variety of flambé dishes that they are known for. The restaurant has three different levels that cater to your mood. You can enjoy a cold one at the bar or enjoy an intimate fine dining experience while you enjoy a well-plated dish of Salmon and avocado or just enjoy a good cup of coffee and homemade chocolates courtesy of the Sous Chef Anushan Perera on the outside terrace.

The celebration for the 24th Anniversary will start off at 7 pm and will go on until 11 pm where guest can enjoy a seven-course sit-down dinner while listening to the smooth jazz sounds of Mignonne, Russ and Suraj. The menu will feature 24 miniature dishes from the past 24 years! These dishes will be the creme de la crème of “The California Grill” and we were lucky enough to taste a few of them on our visit.

Our night started off with a plate of avocado and Salmon and cucumber canapés not to forget the Smoked Salmon and cream cheese parcel which is part of the anniversary menu. What we enjoyed about these dished were how fresh and balanced the flavours were, thereafter we moved on to a very smooth asparagus soup with a hint of basil oil.

Our favourites for the night was three of the mains which were the Pan Seared Lamb Cutlet with Rosemary Sauce, the pesto marinated salmon with liquid parmesan and popcorn powder and the baby chicken roulade with tomato cream.

We loved how each was different from the other and how well the flavour had been soaked into the lamb, salmon and chicken each giving a different flavour that does not overpower the texture of the meat but instead complements it.

We also enjoyed the Passionfruit gin Sorbet which is also in the anniversary menu and that was just gone as soon as it reached the table, yes is Sorbet plus it was that amazing!

The California Grill will be featuring three delicious soups on the 25th which will be the Louisiana Chicken Consomme, the butter mushroom bisque and red bell pepper chowder. Something for everyone with a different taste bud to enjoy. You can enjoy all this and so much more so make sure you make a reservation at the California Grill. Don’t just take our word for it try out for yourself with the amazing 24th Anniversary offer. 

Keep in mind if you want the best view then remember to reserve table number 5 according to the restaurant manager Mr. Jayathunga that has the best view and if you want to make a private dining room reservation for the 25th you can do so for 10/12 people by making a reservation earlier on.
